Local Government Act 1972 Scyghedule 26 Section 214 – Burial fees.

Article 15 of the Local Authorities Cemeteries Order 1977

The fees, payments and sums set out below apply where the person to be interred or in respect of whom the right is granted is, or immediately before this or her death was an inhabitant or parishioner of the Parish of Holton-le-Clay, or in the case of a still-born child, where the parents (or one of them) are at the time of the interment were, such inhabitants or parishioners who were on the current or previous year’s electoral roll, or children of parents whose names appear on it and are currently residing within the village (for those outside the village please see terms on non residents).

 

PART 1 – EXCLUSIVE RIGHT OF BURIAL IN EARTHEN GRAVES – NOT EXCEEDING 75 YEARS - SINGLE DEPTH GRAVE PLOTS ONLY

 

The Exclusive Right of Burial is for 75 years from the date of purchase and not of Burial.  Exclusive burial and other rights may be assigned by deed or bequeathed by Will. At the end of 75 years the plot will revert to the Parish Council together with all rights.

FOR NON RESIDENTS

Any burial for a non-resident irrespective of purchase of Grant of Exclusive Right of Burial.  The term “non residents” charge would become applicable if a burial is requested after a person has been left the village for more than ten years, i.e living with relatives, Nursing Accommodation/Residential Home.  Applies to all Exclusive Rights - from May 2009.

All headstones are subject to the approval of Holton-le-Clay Parish Council/Burial Board and a drawing showing the form and dimensions of every headstone proposed to be erected must be submitted on the appropriate form to the Parish Council.  No alterations to any existing headstone shall be made after the initial approval without written notification to the Parish Council whose consent must be obtained.  All headstones are to be kept in good repair by the owners and if not repaired by due notice, may be removed by the Parish Council.  Kerb Stones are no longer approved in the Cemetery,

 

All memorials are required to be installed in accordance to the NAMM Code of Working Practice and the Plot Reference number to be engraved at the back of the base, bottom left hand side.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS

INTERMENTS

 

FORTY EIGHT HOURS WRITTEN NOTICE at least shall be given for an interment in an earthen grave, and if such earthen grave be required on a Monday the notice must be given and confirmed in writing to the Clerk of the Burial Board before noon on the previous Thursday.

 

ALL NOTICES OF INTERMENT MUST BE MADE TO THE CLERK OF THE BURIAL BOARD BY TELEPHONE in the first instance and then confirmed in writing immediately to the Clerk of the Burial Board, at the Holton-le-Clay Parish Council, Village Hall, Pinfold Lane, Holton-le-Clay, GRIMSBY DN36 5DL.

 

MEMORIAL HEADSTONES

 

A PLAN OF ANY MEMORIAL together with the inscription must be submitted to the Council before the monthly Full Council – Burial Board Meeting at which it will be discussed for approval (via Monumental Masons).

 

HEADSTONES may only be removed with the express permission of the Clerk to the Burial Board.

 

CREMATED REMAINS/GRAVE SPACES

 

ONLY BULBS AND NON ROOT SPREADING VARIETIES OF FLOWERS will be permitted on graves in the Cemetery.  Any plants should be restricted to the headstone border and of a suitable species.

 

FLOWERS/WREATHS may be placed at the headstone border but these will be removed after a reasonable time.  Any flower holders must be of a non-breakable material.

 

NO GLASS OR CERAMIC vases or ornaments to be placed on graves.

 

NO GLASS BEADS, AGGREGATES, EDGING, WINDMILLS, WIND CHIMES AND LANTERNS to be placed on any grave.

 

NO ARTICLE OF POTTERY, glass or metal ware, unless manufactured expressly as a receptacle for flowers shall be placed upon any grave.

 

NO HEWING OR DRESSING OF STONE will be permitted within the Cemetery.

 

NO WOODEN OR IRON RAILINGS OR FENCING shall be allowed around any grave.

 

NO widening of the borders of grave plots.

 

TEMPORARY WOODEN CROSS is desirable that after 12 months it is replaced by a headstone.

 

LEVELLING OF GRAVE PLOTS will be carried out twice a year in March/April and September/October.

 

The Council shall be at liberty to remove from the graves any article not complying with the Cemetery Regulations. 

 

For the grave spaces families will be permitted to place what is listed above, anything else they are to seek permission from the Burial Board.
